At Jeeo Health Center, we are proud to offer COVID-19 IgG/IgM Rapid Test Cassette (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma) antigen testing in our office. We are doing a finger-prick antigen test with results in 15 minutes. This type of test can help to determine whether you have previously had COVID-19 and now have antibodies to protect against the virus.
It is important to note that this testing does not determine if you currently have COVID-19, but instead provides information about whether you had it in the past and fully recovered.
Why is COVID-19 Antigen Testing important?
As we navigate this evolving virus, antigen testing can be a valuable asset in our understanding and research of COVID-19. Results of accurate antibody testing can help provide a better scope of how many people have been affected by coronavirus, including those who never displayed symptoms. This information aids in contact tracing, research regarding immunity, and strategies to help keep our community healthy.
What Are the Benefits of Antigen Testing?
- Fast results as soon as 2-10 minutes
- Simple, time-saving procedure
- High sensitivity and specifity
- Authorized by FDA
What is the difference between IgM and IgG antibodies?
With any antigen (foreign particle) invasion, IgM is the first antibody to be produced. IgM is the largest immunoglobulin in the body and IgG is the most abundantly found antibody.
In simpler terms, if a virus is present in the body, IgM will be the first antibody produced, followed by IgG. IgG will also remain longer and will act as an indicator that the body has produced some degree of immunity.
If you are currently in good health, please contact our office for more information to see if you are a candidate for testing. We appreciate your assistance in helping us navigate COVID-19.
